Governor：Equipment that detects the speed deviation of a hydro-generating unit and controls the water flow into the turbine by opening or closing the turbine's guide vanes, thereby regulating the turbine's speed and output.

Components of a Governor：The governor system consists of a governor cabinet (mechanical cabinet), an electrical cabinet, an oil pressure unit, a pressure oil tank, etc., as well as equipment such as an emergency distributing valve, a sectional shut-off valve, and other automation elements.

Tasks of the Governing System：To continuously regulate the output power of the hydro-generating unit and maintain the unit's speed (frequency) within the specified range of the rated speed (frequency).

Working Principle of the Governor :Based on the detected speed deviation of the unit, it adjusts the opening of the guide vanes to achieve the purpose of changing the output power and maintaining a stable speed.

Functions of the Governor :Starting up, shutting down (under normal or emergency conditions), synchronizing with the grid, and increasing or decreasing load. It ensures the stable operation of the unit under various conditions such as no-load, power generation, phase modulation, shutdown, and manual operation.
