Runner Structure:The runner blades are arranged in a conical formation. The water flow strikes the blades at an oblique angle (typically 20° to 45°). This impact is neither purely tangential (like an impulse turbine) nor axial (like a reaction turbine), hence the name "Cross-flow" or "Oblique impact."
Operating Principle:Water is formed into a high-velocity jet through the nozzle. It strikes the runner blades obliquely and is discharged from the opposite side. The energy is converted through kinetic energy and partial pressure energy transfer. When the water enters the runner, its direction is at a specific angle to the axis; upon exiting, the direction is opposite. This forms a symmetrical bidirectional flow, which reduces axial thrust and improves efficiency.
